Fundamental British Values

What are Fundamental British Values?

At Evergreen School we are committed to promoting Fundamental British Values in a way that is meaningful and accessible for all our pupils. These values are:
  • Democracy – Autumn Term
  • The Rule of Law – Autumn Term
  • Individual Liberty – Spring Term
  • Mutual Respect and Tolerance of Those with Different Faiths and Beliefs – Summer Term
We promote these values through a broad and balanced curriculum that is adapted to meet the needs of all learners. Our school environment encourages pupils to make choices, express opinions, and understand their rights and responsibilities in a safe and supportive setting.
  • Democracy is taught through opportunities for pupil voice, school councils, and voting activities that help pupils understand fairness and shared decision-making.
  • The Rule of Law is reinforced through clear routines, consistent boundaries, and helping pupils understand the importance of rules in keeping everyone safe.
  • Individual Liberty is promoted by encouraging pupils to make choices about their learning, behaviour, and activities, while understanding how to stay safe and seek help when needed.
  • Mutual Respect and Tolerance are embedded in everything we do. We celebrate diversity and teach pupils to value and respect differences in culture, belief, and ability.
We work in partnership with families and the wider community to ensure our pupils develop into responsible, respectful citizens prepared for life in modern Britain.
